Lincoln Christian Bulldogs cool NOAH Jaguars 4-2 on a chilly
Saturday in the last game of the LIncoln Christian
Woodbat Festival. The Jags finish the festival
with a 2-1 record. For the season the Jaguars are 3-4.
Despite the cold weather, both teams played a very good game
as it turned out to be a pitching and defensive duel.
Lincoln Christian's Rocky Renfo had a very nice outing only
giving up 2 Jaguar hits. He had kept the Jag batters
at bay mixing up a good curve ball with a good fastball.
Sammy Brownwood pitched well for the Jags, giving up 7
singles and 3 Ks. The Bulldogs scored 4 runs but only
1 of them earned. John Tyree pitched one inning giving
up a hit and walk.
The first 3 innings were scoreless. Lincoln Christian
was able to push 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of
the 4th. SS Jebediah Penrod and 2B Joe Sabatini
turned a 6-4-3 double play to get out of the inning. Justin
Leekley led off the top of 5th inning with a single.
Andrew Smith reached on a fielder's choice with an error on
throw to second base. Both Justin and Andrew scored on a
wild pitch. The Bulldogs answered
back in the bottom half of the 5th inning. With 2
outs, a Bulldog batter reached first base on a dropped
called 3rd strike that was followed with 3 consecutive
singles to score 2 runs. The Jags stranded a runner in
the 6th and 7th innings to lose 4-2.
Jaguars next game is Monday 3/17 at LaFortune Park versus the Salina
Wildcats. First pitch is 4:30 p.m. JV game will
follow approximately 2 hours.
