NOAH Jaguars pitch a 1-hit shutout
over Cascia Hall Commandos on a beautiful Saturday
afternoon.
It was a
pitching duel between Cascia Hall's Bloomfield and the
NOAH Jaguar Avery Penrod. After a single by Justin
Leekley and a double by Avery Penrod in the 2nd inning,
it looked like the Jags might get on the board. Instead
the 3rd out was recorded leaving two men on base.
Jebediah Penrod reached base in the 3rd inning, advanced
on a passed ball, moved to 3rd during Joe Sabatini's at
bat, then scored on a passed ball. Cascia Hall answered
with a single in the 4th, but was thrown out by pitcher
Avery Penrod at 3rd base on a bunt. The Jags loaded the
bases in the 4th but again failed to get a run across
and went 3 up-3 down in the 5th and 6th innings. In the
5th the Commandos had a runner reach on an error, moved
to 2nd on a play, advance to 3rd after another error and
a batter reach base after being hit by a pitch. With
only one out and two runners in scoring position, Junior
pitcher Penrod struck out the next batter and enticed
the last batter of the inning into an infield pop up. In
the 6th a Commando reached base on a walk but was then
stranded. They went 3 up-3 down in the 7th giving the
Jags a great win, 1-0.
